montepulciano

A very vigorous variety mostly grown in the Abruzzi region of Italy to produce the eponymous wine. It is also grown in the Marches to produce Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno. It tends to yield dependable quantities of deep coloured grapes with good levels of alcohol and extract. The flavour profile is slightly herbal with plenty of berry fruit and a firm structure.
