verdelho
Not to be confused with Verdejo from Rueda in Spain. Verdelho is a Portugese variety, most closely associated with Madeira, although it is now in decline here. It has had notable success in Australia, especially in the Hunter Valley and in some of the hotter areas of Western Australia. Some also regard it as the classic variety of McLaren Vale in South Australia where it can produce long lived wines that are vibrant, full-bodied and tangy.
